What's included in an annual physical for children?

An annual physical for a child, also called a well-child exam, is a comprehensive assessment of the overall health of a child. It comprises disease detection, determines whether or not a child is progressing at a normal rate, and encourages proper overall health. During their appointment, Dr. McKerahan will evaluate your child's height, weight, blood pressure, and typically vision and hearing. Blood and urine samples could also be taken if you have noticed any abnormal symptoms developing in your child and are used to identify diabetes, hormone imbalances, cancer, and more. We will also make sure your child is up to date on their immunizations and update their records as needed. Some other issues that can be addressed during a well-child exam are nutrition, sleeping habits, and emotional issues (such as depression or anxiety).
