What is Laser Tattoo Removal?
There are a number of reasons why you might no longer want your tattoo. Whether it represents a difficult memory, has become faded over time, or simply no longer represents who you are, our team has the solution for you. Advances in tattoo removal technology have made it easier to raise tattoo ink from the skin, potentially removing the undesired tattoo altogether. At our office in Murrieta, CA, board-certified osteopathic physician Dr. Kelly L. McKerahan performs tattoo removal using the state-of-the-art ClearLift™. This laser energy device is known to produce better results than other tattoo removal technologies and might even allow you to achieve your results in fewer treatments.
Our Laser Tattoo Removal Technique
Once Dr. McKerahan has determined that your skin is ideal for tattoo removal, the treatment area will be prepped with a thorough cleansing and an application of a topical anesthetic. Dr. McKerahan will begin by passing the handpiece over the surface of the skin as it releases laser light and pulsing energy. In some cases, the tattoo will require a number of sessions before noticeable results are seen. At the end of each treatment, a topical cream will be applied to the skin, along with bandages to protect the area. You may feel a sunburned sensation followed by a slight scabbing. It's important to adhere to aftercare instructions carefully to expedite the recovery process. Once the site is ready, your next session may be scheduled. Dr. McKerahan does not recommend scheduling sessions sooner than 4 – 7 weeks apart.
